WellAir’s mission is to make the indoor world cleaner and safer. Our Plasma Air soft ionization, also known as bipolar ionization, technology has been deployed since 2007. Plasma Air’s ionization is a naturally occurring, safe and effective air purification technology.

Today, Plasma Air's ionization solutions purify the air in over 400 million square feet of indoor environments worldwide. Busy and important places like schools, universities, hospitals, banks, offices, and homes install our ionization technology. Soft / Bipolar ionization is safe; there are no health risks.

At WellAir, we use science to make products that keep indoor spaces safe for people. We are transparent in our approach to product development. Our teams consist of research scientists and engineers who are singularly focused on the hygiene of indoor spaces. Our methods have been proven effective for over fifteen years and have been independently validated, demonstrating scientific integrity.

Our solutions work with HVAC air filtration systems to neutralize germs and reduce harmful particulates. They don't introduce ozone, carbon dioxide, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or other dangerous chemicals or byproducts.

Do Plasma Air ionization solutions create volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or harmful airborne chemicals when in use?

FACT:

  • Plasma Air’s ionization solutions do not create VOCs. They do not break down VOCs into smaller, harmful airborne chemicals.

  • Testing was performed by Intertek, a Nationally Recognized third-party laboratory following international VOC test standards (ISO16000-3 and ISO16000-6).

THERE IS NO EVIDENCE IN EXISTENCE THAT SHOW PLASMA AIR SOFT IONIZATION SOLUTIONS CREATINGS VOCs OR OTHER HARMFUL CHEMICALS.

Have the Plasma Air soft ionization solutions been tested and proven effective at reducing pathogens, like viruses and bacteria? What is the testing environment?

FACT:

  • Researchers tested Plasma Air's soft ionization solutions in large bioaerosol chambers. They demonstrated the ability to decrease harmful germs and pollutants in the air. These include viruses like SARS-CoV-2, H1N1, and Norovirus.

  • Plasma Air’s soft ionization solutions reduced MS2 bacteriophage by 99.39%.

  • Plasma Air conducted and shared many successful third-party tests on its ionization solutions. These tests included H1N1 flu virus, bacteria, bacterial spores, and mold.

Do Plasma Air soft ionization solutions create ozone?

FACT:

  • Plasma Air’s entire portfolio of soft ionization solutions have been UL 2998 certified for zero ozone production. This certification meets the UL qualification standard for ozone-free emissions and is compliant with ASHRAE standards.

  • In addition, the CDC recommends that if you are considering the acquisition of ionization equipment, be sure that the equipment meets UL 2998 standard certification (Environmental Claim Validation Procedure (ECVP) for Zero Ozone Emissions from Air Cleaners). This certification validates that the product produces no harmful levels of ozone.

  • Plasma Air's soft ionization solutions have been certified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to meet their standards. In 2008, CARB enacted an air cleaner regulation to limit the ozone emissions from indoor air cleaning devices.
